Law Student Externship Opportunities

For summer and select semesters, law student externs may volunteer with LA HLPP. Students receive training in HIV/AIDS-related legal issues, including: Advance Planning Affordable Care Act and HIV, Debtor/Creditor Issues, Employment Rights and Protections for PLWH, Health Insurance Appeals, HIV and the Law, Immigration, Landlord Tenant disputes, Privacy/Confidentiality, Public Benefits and other legal issues.

In addition, students may get actively involved by interviewing LA HLPP callers and providing telephone assistance and information. Students may also have the opportunity to develop research and writing skills by drafting correspondence and conducting legal research for callers.  Students will have the additional opportunity to participate in health fairs and community education programs as schedules permit. Enrich your law school experience and join us!
